Antec's Sonata PC A Real Eye-Catcher

The Sonata provides a quiet, well-cooled machine that's eye-catching regardless of the setting. CRN Test Center engineers have found that Antec provides cases and power supplies of excellent quality and the Sonata is no exception. The elegant piano-black paint gives an extra touch of class to this smooth-edged, rugged case.

The Sonata comes equipped with an Antec TruePower 380 Watt ATX12v power supply. The power supply employs Antec's new Low Noise Technology, which uses only one fan. Another low-noise feature is a dedicated, fan-only power connector, which allows the power supply to control the fan speed.

The case includes three 5.25-inch external drive bays, two 3.5-inch external drive bays and four 3.5-inch internal drive bays in individual trays. Each tray is surrounded by a rubber ring to help reduce hard drive vibrations and further reduce noise. The individual trays are mounted sideways in the drive cage, making installation a breeze. The case can also support up to two 120mm fans for additional cooling.

The case incorporates Antec's trademark lockable front door so users can hide the drives, power and reset buttons. One outstanding feature is the shiny chrome flip-up door on the front panel. The door conceals one 1EEE1394, two USB 2.0 ports and two 3.5mm audio ports. The front panel also conceals the Sonata's washable air filter, which greatly reduces dust build-up. Accessing the inside of the case is done through the left side panel. This panel includes a lockable level for easy removal and added protection. Tiny vent holes provide the case with added ventilation.
