Zendesk Discloses 2016 Security Breach That Exposed 10,000 Accounts

Staying on the topic of security breaches, customer service software developer Zendesk this week notified 10,000 customers that their account information may have been compromised in a security breach before November 2016.

Zendesk disclosed the incident in a blog post this week. The company said it was recently alerted by a third party regarding a security matter “that may have affected the Zendesk Support and Chat products and customer accounts of those products activated prior to November of 2016.”

The company determined on Sept. 24, 2019, that information belonging to “a small percentage of customers” was accessed prior to November of 2016. The information included names, phone numbers and email addresses of agents and end-users of Zendesk products.

Zendesk’s stock lost 4 percent of its value on Wednesday following the announcement, according to MarketWatch.
