The Week Ending Nov. 9

Topping this week's roundup of those having a rough week are hundreds of CA Technologies employees who faced layoffs this week after Broadcom completed its $18.9 billion acquisition of CA.

Also making the list this week are Apple, which lost its $1 trillion market cap this week; Oracle, for losing Amazon’s consumer business as a data warehouse customer; WordPress and WooCommerce for dealing with software flaws that could allow an attacker to take control of a Web site; and Foxconn for being hit with a controversy over its new assembly plant in Wisconsin.

Not everyone in the IT industry was having a rough go of it this week. For a rundown of companies that made smart decisions, executed savvy strategic moves – or just had good luck – check out this week's Five Companies That Came To Win roundup.
