Rick Whiting
A recent Gartner report spotlights several industry trends that can hinder the success of business intelligence initiatives. Solution providers with business analytics practices should take note.

Key Trends Driving Business Analytics
The Gartner Predicts report identifies four strategic planning assumptions that will be key aspects of business analytics projects.
- By 2022, augmented analytics technology will be ubiquitous, but only 10 percent of analysts will use its full potential. Augmented analytics is the use of machine learning and natural language processing to enhance data analytics and data sharing, according to a Gartner report.
- By 2022, 40 percent of machine-learning model development and scoring will be done in products that do not have machine learning as their primary goal.
- By 2023, 90 percent of the world’s top 500 companies will have converged analytics governance into broader data and analytics governance initiatives.
- By 2025, 80 percent of consumer and industrial products containing electronics will perform analytics on the device.
