Melbourne, Australia-based startup ProvenDB launched its blockchain-enabled database service in June, leveraging the capabilities of the public blockchain with a standard database engine.
The ProvenDB service is built on the MongoDB Atlas database service with core blockchain attributes added to the database. That way ProvenDB seeks to overcome the expense and performance issues of blockchain, combining the high-performance of the familiar database engine with blockchain characteristics like immutability, data provenance and probability.
