10 Tech Companies Halting Political Contributions Following U.S. Capitol Riot

Some of the country’s largest tech and telecom companies are suspending or completely ending their political donation activity in the wake of the riots at the U.S. Capitol last week. Here are the companies that have come forward.

One of the largest retail and cloud giants in the world, Amazon, said it was suspending donations to Republicans who objected to the certification of the presidential election results.

“We intend to discuss our concerns directly with those Members we have previously supported and will evaluate their responses as we consider future PAC contributions,” an Amazon spokeswoman said in a statement. Federal Election Commission data shows that Amazon’s PAC contributed to U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign in 2017 and 2018. Cruz, who represents Texas, sought to object to Biden’s electoral votes last week.
