13 Celebrity Sightings at CES 2008

There's nothing like a famous face to help hawk gizmos and gadgets. Rock stars, Hollywood actors and all-star athletes flocked to the International Consumer Electronics Show 2008 to flaunt their fame and help sell some cool stuff. Here's a look at a few of the familiar faces at CES.

MICHAEL DOUGLAS

He's not just a celebrity: he's also an investor. Two-time Oscar winner Michael Douglas helped tout the new high-def, satellite-based home entertainment system from XStreamHD, a company he has also invested in.

Former Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash helped send Microsoft's Bill Gates off with style at what was likely the software guru's final CES keynote address. Even though Gates claimed to have practiced over the holidays, he still brought Slash in as a ringer to represent him in a Guitar Hero 3 challenge.

Slash wasn't the only guitar hero to show up at CES. British rock legend and Grammy winner Peter Frampton strummed a few tunes at the Gibson Guitar booth.

Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz settled in among the Aquos HD TVs to pose for photos and hand out autographed cards at the Sharp booth.

Intel's Paul Otellini brought Smash Mouth lead singer Steve Harwell out on stage during his keynote address to hype the capabilities of the vendor's forthcoming chips. Harwell put on a virtual jam session with his bandmates, who were all in different locations, through eJamming, an online collaboration tool for musicians.

Yoko Ono unveiled the new John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, a non-profit project that aims to provide students with hands-on access to music and video equipment via a mobile recording studio.

Hip hop musician and Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am was on hand to help show off the new John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.

Pat Monahan, lead singer of rock band Train, showed up to support the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.

Actor Kevin Costner and his band, Modern West, played at the Gibson Guitar booth.

Songstress Natasha Bedingfield joined Yoko Ono and a bevy of other musicians to help launch the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus, but she also popped in to perform a concert on the show floor at the Sony booth. Bedingfield mused about how bad her hair looked on the giant video screen behind her and played some of her popular songs, including "Unwritten" and "These Words."

Forget Cirque du Soleil. Grammy winner Mary J. Blige, "The Queen of Hip Hop Soul," was the hottest ticket in town, where she sang at the Monster Cable retailer awards dinner.

American Idol's Ryan Seacrest helped Comcast Chairman and CEO Brian Roberts out during a keynote address. The duo introduced a new Web site called Fancast that provides streaming content.

Jermaine Clement and Bret McKenzie of HBO's "Flight of the Conchords" also performed during the Comcast keynote address.
