CRN looks at five top revenue-producing solution providers that made recent headlines. News includes CSC's kudos from Forrester Research, TCS' healthcare system that helps doctors retrieve patient data and Accenture's consulting gig in Saudi Arabia's electricity market.

CSC Leads In Managed Security Services

Forrester Research has named Computer Science Corp. a "leader" in managed services. In its latest report, "The Forrester Wave: Managed Security Services: North America, Q1 2012," the research firm rated managed security service providers using 60 criteria, including current offerings, strategies and market presence. Survey respondents commented in particular on CSC's Security Operations Centers, terming them "well run" and responsive.

TCS Helps Docs Interpret Patient Data

Tata Consultancy Services has fully implemented a hospital management system, called Med Mantra, for India’s Cancer Institute that offers doctors and specialists (some based in other locations) a holistic view of patients' histories. TCS's Med Mantra provides physicians and healthcare workers a centralized system of electronic medical records. The goal of the new system is to help doctors make better decisions on diagnosis and treatment, thereby reducing the potential of medication errors. The Institute serves more than 130,000 patients annually.

GTSI Wins Multi-Million Navy Contract

GTSI Corp., a systems integration, solutions and services provider to federal, state and local government, will provide defense intelligence solutions to the Navy, under a deal that could be worth up to $500 million. Nine contracts are included within the award, which includes support for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SPAWARSYSCEN) Atlantic. GTSI will provide the following services: infrastructure in communications, digitizers, GPS tactical workstations, video surveillance and tactical local area networking equipment as well as selected sensors.

Accenture Enlightens Saudi Electric Co.

As Saudi Arabia prepares to move toward a more competitive wholesale electricity market, Accenture is providing management consulting services to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). Accenture will implement and operate a strategic project management capability for the SEC, helping it manage various projects and redesign internal business processes.

Cisco Gives ePlus An A+

ePlus won four Cisco Partner Summit awards, which it received at the vendor's annual channel partner conference recently held in San Diego. "We're extremely pleased to be the recipient of multiple Cisco Partner awards this year, specifically as they relate to some of our strongest areas of expertise -- the data center, our professional services, and serving the SLED vertical," said Mark Marron, president of ePlus Technology in a statement. "These prestigious awards recognize our exceptional service delivery and engineering capabilities that enable customers to make the transformation to unified data centers and cloud computing."
