ThunderCat Technology (Fast Growth 150 Rank: 19) was named after CEO Tom Deierlein's call sign, "ThunderCat 6," according to the company's website. Though Deierlein graduated from the United States Military Academy, West Point, in 1989 and served a five-year span before entering the technology industry via the private sector, he was recalled to active duty in 2005. It was during this second time around that Deierlein began operating under "ThunderCat 6." It was also this second time around that Deierlein was severely injured by a sniper shot, which sent him home for good. In 2007, Deierlein re-entered the technology space. He has been awarded with a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. In addition, he has helped launch a foundation to hope underprivileged Iraqi families and children.
