Intelisys Offers $1 Million Bounty For Top Cloud Performer

Telecom master agent Intelisys Communications sought to light a fire under its channel partners this week to prod them into boosting their cloud services sales. The prize? A $1 million award for the first partner to achieve $5 million in net monthly billings. Such a run-rate would mean a partner capturing around $700,000 per month, or $8.4 million in commission income, according to Intelisys.

IT vendors have sought the best way to push, prod, cajole and incentivize their channel partners to move away from traditional reseller business models and retool their operations to focus more on cloud services and recurring revenue. Cash prizes like the $1 million Intelisys is offering in its "Drive for 5!" competition might seem like an obvious answer. But if it achieves its goal, look for other vendors to follow suit.
