D&H Co President’s Dan And Michael Schwab: The ‘Most Exciting Time In Decades To Be In IT Distribution’

Steven Burke

D&H Co-President Dan and Michael Schwab sound off on the company’s robust sales growth during the pandemic, future growth and the future of IT distribution.

What is going on with the return to work for co-owners?

Dan Schwab: We are being conservative. Safety comes first. We are waiting for all guidelines – state and local – to be resolved. We are hoping to bring back optional return to work when our co-owners are vaccinated.

We are in no rush to do that. Productivity is high. People are comfortable. Safety is our top priority.

We had a company drive by on Saturday. We spent it outside at our headquarters. We had 280 cars full of people drive by, pick up bottles of wine, an Apple pie and all sorts of gifts – milk shakes from Pennsylvania Farm- all sorts of kids items, baseball bats and wiffle balls. We had stations set up with volunteer employees handing things out. Michael and I got to talk to each and every car that came through. People said they miss each other and loved the opportunity to see some of their friends in person.

This is all about caring. We are a company that cares about our co-owners. It is up to us to demonstrate that. Michael and I try to set the standard for our management team. We are not successful because of Michael and I or our great leaders. We have great people throughout the company. We are a bottoms up driven company. We want to acknowledge success and show appreciation.

Have you ever been more optimistic?

Michael Schwab: I am as eager to get going for the new fiscal year as I have ever been.

Dan Schwab: I don’t think technology in our 104-year history has ever played a greater role in people’s lives than it is now. We are fortunate to be in an industry where we are able to help deliver these new technologies to market.
