Communications Services: Moderate Spending Rise In Saturated Market

Global spending on communications services fell about 1.1 percent in 2019 but is expected to grow 1.5 percent in 2020 and 2.1 percent in 2021, Gartner said.

This is pretty much a market that is completely saturated, with a big focus on pricing and bundling, Lovelock said. "These are commoditized services where people are looking to take out costs," he said.

The mobile data segment of this market is the only place seeing revenue growth, Lovelock said. "Fixed landline spending is trending down about 2 percent over the next five years in the enterprise market, but will see 1 [percent] to 2 percent growth in the consumer market, depending on region," he said.
