10 AWS Channel Issues Raised By Partners
Donna Goodison
Amazon Web Services partners told CRN they would like to see the cloud computing market leader address a number of pressing issues, including channel conflict with AWS Professional Services consultants, a framework for smaller partners to engage with AWS and escalation issues that are impacting partners.

One of the partners who also worked for Microsoft said that at Microsoft, it’s different. Microsoft will say, “Okay, what region do you want to cover? This is how big the business is, what chunk do you want?”
I have to be very careful here on this one, because we don’t say, “Hey, this is a chunk for your partner,” because...we think it’s very important to provide customers choice. So by just saying, “Hey, this particular territory or these set of customers, we’re only going to work with this x partner,” it’s just not the right thing to do. We will continue to enable the right partners, make sure those partners are as customer-obsessed with us and, in a particular region where they’re focused on, we will make sure to help them be successful. But we will not be able to say, “Hey, you know what, this patch, it’s all for you — go at it.” That’s just something that we just won’t do. It’s just a different, I guess, philosophy.
