Alibaba Group Holding Ltd., China's Amazon Web Services equivalent, is starting to seriously grow its presence in the United States. As of August, the cloud giant had a market valuation around $400 billion, which is catching up to Amazon’s cloud-computing unit’s valuation of as much as $470 billion.

Alibaba has aggressive expansion plans in the states, so for solution providers, it's worth keeping on the radar. However, these plans were tempered toward the end of the year. Alibaba’s founder and chairman Jack Ma said in September that the Chinese company no longer has plans to create 1 million jobs in the US, citing the ongoing trade conflict.
