The IT industry continues to undergo a number of fundamental transformations, including the accelerating shifts to cloud computing and software-defined technologies, and the rise of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

The channel is smack in the middle of these changes, of course, with solution providers leading the way in helping businesses and organizations take advantage of the new technologies.

Here we present the top 25 solution provider companies that landed on the 2018 Solution Provider 500.

Collectively the companies that make up this year’s Solution Provider 500 generated just under $319.9 billion in revenue in 2017.

25. PCM

Top Executive: Frank Khulusi, Chairman & CEO

Location: El Segundo, Calif.


PCM offers an extensive lineup of data center, cloud, networking and end-user solutions and managed services. Once heavily focused on reselling hardware, PCM has gone far in its transformation to a high-value services and solution provider. The company began 2018 with a bang by acquiring Epoch Universal, a Cisco and VMware partner with expertise in networking, security, unified communications, data center virtualization, cloud and hosted solutions.

24. Sirius Computer Solutions

Top Executive: Joe Mertens, President & CEO

Location: San Antonio


Sirius is a national integrator of IT business solutions that span both the data center and lines of business. The company is one of IBM’s top partners and also works with Cisco, Dell EMC and Hewlett Packard Enterprise, among other vendors. In November Sirius completed its acquisition of Forsythe Technology – its seventh acquisition since 2014 – in a move that creates a $3-billion-plus channel heavyweight.

23. West Corporation

2017 Rank: 24

Top Executive: John Shlonsky, CEO

Location: Omaha, Neb.


Telecommunications and network infrastructure services provider West Corp. was acquired in October by private equity company Apollo Global Management in a deal valued at $5.1 billion. West Corp. is well-positioned to help businesses and organizations with their transformation to the cloud. The company has continued to make its own acquisitions, buying ECaTS in November and PhoneTree in January.

22. Atos

Atos is an IT services provider that specializes in high-tech transaction services, unified communications, cloud computing, big data and cybersecurity. The company is looking to become more visible in North America, leveraging its close channel relationships with Cisco and Dell Technologies. Atos was on the world stage in February when it provided the IT services that ran the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea.

21. Unisys Corporation

Top Executive: Peter Altabef, President & CEO

Unisys develops high-performance, security-centric solutions for businesses and government agencies with a portfolio that covers security, compliance, digital transformation and workplace services; infrastructure management and cloud services; industry applications; and advanced analytics. Unisys was just named Dell EMC's Global Alliances Growth Partner and Marketing Partner of the Year.

20. Presidio

Top Executive: Bob Cagnazzi, President & CEO

Location: New York


Presidio, which went public in 2017, has focused on developing digital transformation solutions, multi-cloud systems and cybersecurity services. The company has pursued an aggressive acquisition strategy, most recently buying Red Sky Solutions, a fast-growing solution provider with expertise in cybersecurity, managed services, data center and cloud solutions.

19. Connection

Location: Merrimack, N.H.


Connection, previously known as PC Connection, is a leading technology solution provider for business, government and education customers. The company reported better than 8 percent sales growth in 2017 with revenue for the year reaching $2.9 billion, thanks to continued strength in the company's manufacturing, retail, health-care and financial strategic vertical markets.

18. Carahsoft

Top Executive: Craig Abod, President

Location: Reston, Va.


Carahsoft is a leading provider of IT solutions for government agencies, especially within the U.S. federal government. The company's success is the result of its understanding of the government procurement process combined with its technical expertise in cloud computing, cybersecurity, big data and mobility. Carahsoft is also a distributor and master aggregator, managing public sector reseller networks for multiple major vendors.

17. CACI

2017 Rank: 16

Top Executive: Kenneth Asbury, President & CEO

Location: Arlington, Va.


CACI is another major solution provider to the U.S. government and other public sector customers. The company's forte is providing information solutions and services in support of national security missions and government transformation for intelligence, defense and federal civilian agencies. In April, for example, the company was awarded a $145 million task order to support a U.S. Army intelligence and security command counter insurgency targeting program.

16. CGI

Top Executive: George Schindler, President & CEO

Location: Montreal


CGI is a global information technology solutions, consulting, systems integration and outsourcing provider. In December CGI acquired Paragon Solutions, a commercial business consulting company with expertise in health and life sciences and IT depth in digital transformation and systems integration. The acquisition strengthened CGI's position in the New York, New Jersey and Philadelphia metro region.

15. Deloitte Technology

Location: New York


Deloitte provides audit, consulting, tax and advisory services, including technology expertise in cloud computing, digital transformation and data analytics. In May Deloitte was named a launch partner for Amazon Web Services' IoT Analytics service with plans for Deloitte's IoT practice to utilize Amazon EC2, S3, AWS IoT, AWS IoT Device Management, AWS IoT Analytics and other Amazon cloud services.

14. CSRA

Location: Falls Church, Va.


Another of the major solution providers that focuses on IT services for federal government agencies, CSRA was formed in 2015 through the combination of SRA International and the federal government business of Computer Sciences Corp.

In April, General Dynamics acquired CSRA for roughly $9.7 billion.

13. Windstream Enterprise

Top Executive: Tony Thomas, President & CEO

Location: Little Rock, Ark.


Telecommunications vendor Windstream has been expanding to supply a broad range of network, communications and collaboration solutions. In 2017 Windstream expanded its unified communications offerings through its acquisition of Broadview Networks for $227.5 million. And in March the company bought telecom network management provider MASS Communications in a bid to boost its cloud and networking revenue.

12. Insight

Location: Tempe, Ariz.


Insight offers its Insight Intelligent Technology Solutions portfolio of products and services in cloud and data center transformation, digital innovation, connected workforce and supply chain optimization. It also provides solutions in a number of vertical industries including health care, education, and state, local and federal government. Insight's data center business got a major boost from its $258 million acquisition of Datalink in January 2017.

11. SoftwareONE

Top Executive: Neil Lomax, President, North America

Location: Waukesha, Wis.


Many businesses with multi-cloud environments overspend on their software purchases. To get that under control, SoftwareOne provides software asset management and cloud optimization services, including consultative services for software licensing and procurement, technology trends, and compliance mitigation strategies.

10. DXC Technology

Top Executive: Mike Lawrie, President & CEO

Location: Tysons, Va.


DXC was created in early 2017 through the merger of Computer Sciences Corp. and Hewlett Packard Enterprise's enterprise services business. While the solution provider is undertaking a major cost-cutting initiative, it's also seeing growth in its cloud business and its new digital transformation services. DXC just spun off its public sector business as part of a company called Perspecta.

9. Dimension Data

Top Executive: Ross Wainwright, CEO, Dimension Data Americas

Location: New York


Dimension Data, an NTT Communications subsidiary, is a global systems integrator and managed services provider with expertise in hybrid cloud, networks, digital infrastructure, digital workplace, cybersecurity and customer experience. The company is one of Cisco's largest global partners and it also works closely with Microsoft, Dell EMC and NetApp, among others.

8. SHI

Top Executive: Thai Lee, President & CEO

Location: Somerset, N.J.


SHI develops data center, cloud and security systems and offers end-user solutions for desktop and desktop virtualization, mobility, unified communications, digital displays, and printing and imaging. The company's rapid growth has been fueled by increased revenue from its configuration services, up 82 percent in this year's first quarter, and professional services such as IT asset management and system life-cycle management.

7. World Wide Technology (WWT)

Top Executive: James Kavanaugh, CEO

Location: Maryland Heights, Mo.


WWT is a $10 billion solution provider offering systems and services across a broad swath of technologies including compute, cloud, networking, storage, security, collaboration, big data, Internet of Things and mobility. One of WWT's strengths is its Advanced Technology Center where the company designs, builds and tests integrated systems for customers.

6. Cognizant

Location: Teaneck, N.J.


Cognizant is a $15 billion professional services and consulting company that is particularly focused on helping businesses and institutions transform their operating processes and information technology infrastructure and applications for the digital era. Health care has been one of Cognizant's fastest growing sectors: In March the company acquired Bolder Healthcare Solutions, which develops revenue management applications for hospitals and physician practices.

5. CDW

CDW is a leading technology solution provider to businesses, government agencies, educational institutions and health-care organizations in the U.S., Canada and the U.K. With sales exceeding $15.2 billion, CDW provides pre-integrated hardware and software systems for everything from cloud computing and the data center, to digital workspaces and cybersecurity. The company also offers a broad range of managed, professional and e-procurement services.

4. Capgemini

Capgemini is a global provider of IT and business consulting and outsourcing services with offerings in business operations optimization and transformation, digital and cloud services, technology solutions, and cybersecurity and risk management. In February Capgemini struck a deal to acquire LiquidHub, a Wayne, Pa.-based provider of digital transformation services in a move the company said would expand its digital transformation capabilities and its geographical reach within the U.S.

3. Tata Consultancy Services

Tata Consultancy Services is a multinational IT service, systems integration, engineering, consulting and business solution provider. TCS has in recent years been evolving from providing back-end technology to delivering a broader range of business services to enterprise customers. The company has developed expertise in cybersecurity, cloud computing, big data, Internet of Things and artificial intelligence.

2. Accenture

Accenture is a leading global systems integration and professional services provider offering a broad range of services and solutions in IT and business operations strategy.
