The Week Ending Sept. 20

Topping this week's roundup of those having a rough week is Google, which was sued by one of its own development executives charging the internet giant with sex discrimination.

Also making the list are Symantec employees who face layoffs, Cisco for losing out on a bid to acquire DataDog before its lucrative IPO, a mattress manufacturer that left its customer database unsecured, and eight cities that have been hacked by attackers exploiting a software flaw.

Not everyone in the IT industry was having a rough go of it this week. For a rundown of companies that made smart decisions, executed savvy strategic moves – or just had good luck – check out this week's Five Companies That Came To Win roundup.
