New Consumption Packs For Google Cloud Channel Partners
Google Cloud is looking to “accelerate” channel partners’ ability to migrate customers to the cloud by launching nine purpose-built consumption packs that provide partners with different templates to “simplify” the delivery of Google Cloud solutions, according to Google Cloud’s Nina Harding.
“Consumption packs are purpose-built so that partners can plan and initiate customer projects much more quickly, with predictable funding,” said Harding, global chief of partner advantage programs and strategy for Google Cloud, in a blog post. “They include assets and templates that allow partners to deliver Google Cloud-designed and -validated infrastructure, application migration and modernization plans to customers faster than ever—particularly for customers beginning their journey to the cloud.”
Each new pack includes predetermined funding options for a variety of deployments, project templates, migration options for workloads as well as everything a partner needs to conduct assessments, workshops and proofs of concept.
The consumption packs are specific to the company’s Deal Acceleration Funds and Partner Services Funds. Channel partners who are authorized in Google Cloud’s Partner Advantage Service Engagement Model will now be able to sell the packs.
“These packs contain learnings from thousands of deployments over the past couple of years and offer a turnkey, standardized and scalable approach for partners, allowing them to plan and execute projects faster with more predictable funding,” said Google Cloud in an email to CRN.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based public cloud standout launched the packs focused on nine solution areas where it sees particular opportunities for partners to win more business.
In an email to CRN, Google Cloud said it continues to support partner-led delivery and accelerate the innovation made possible by its partner ecosystem. “Customer success is paramount, and we believe our trusted partners help reduce time to value of the investments that clients make in Google Cloud,” Google Cloud said. “Customer-Partner-Google—we all win together. And we can do it simply by removing the friction of connecting the right partner expertise to the right customer at the right time.”
Google Cloud’s new consumption packs include solutions that leverage products such as Cloud SQL, BigQuery, StratoZone and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). Click through to see the specific nine new packs channel partners need to know about.
SAP Migrations To Google Cloud
Google Cloud is pushing partners to help customers migrate their SAP environments onto Google Cloud.
Google told CRN that partners can access the SAP Migrations to Google Cloud new consumption pack to implement a rapid migration of an SAP environment from a customer’s data center or other cloud provider to Google Cloud.
SAP offers its own SAP Cloud Platform to build application extensions with over 16,000 customers and partners using the cloud platform.
In terms of the relationship between the two companies, Google Cloud has an ongoing partnership with SAP to provide SAP-certified infrastructure for organizations’ SAP systems. Google Cloud offers its platform to build, deploy and manage models that streamline SAP-based analytics outcomes.
VMware Engine Migration
The new Google Cloud VMware Engine Migration pack seeks to migrate on-premises VMware customers to Google Cloud.
Partners can leverage this pack to implement a rapid migration of VMware virtual machines from a customer’s VMware software-defined data center to Google Cloud VMware Engine.
VMware Engine is built on Google Cloud’s scalable cloud infrastructure with fully redundant and dedicated 100-Gbps networking, providing 99.99 percent availability to meet demanding enterprise workloads.
“Easily lift and shift your VMware-based applications to Google Cloud without changes to your apps, tools or processes,” said Google Cloud. The solution includes all the hardware and VMware licenses to run in a dedicated VMware software-defined data center in Google Cloud.
Database Migration To Google Cloud SQL
Google Cloud is trying to accelerate customers off MySQL, PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server architecture with its new Database Migration consumption pack.
This new consumption pack helps channel partners develop a strategy and execution plan for migrating customers’ MySQL, PostgreSQL or Microsoft SQL Server architecture to Cloud SQL.
Cloud SQL is a fully managed relational database service for MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server. Partners can run the same relational databases they know with their rich extension collections, configuration flags and developer ecosystem, but without the hassle of self-management, according to Google Cloud.
Cloud SQL enables a customer to scale instances effortlessly with a single API call, regardless of whether the customer starts with simple testing or needs a highly available database in production.
Google Cloud provides an enterprise-grade container orchestration and management solution with Anthos. The solution enables a customer to get a consistent managed Kubernetes experience with simple installs as well as upgrades validated by Google Cloud.
Partners who access the new Anthos Deployment consumption pack can implement a rapid migration of a customer’s containerized application to Google Cloud using Anthos.
Google Cloud’s Anthos is an application management platform that provides a consistent development and operations experience for cloud and on-premises environments. Specifically, Anthos enables users to run a consistent way of managing Kubernetes workloads across on-premises and public clouds.
The solution enables a customer to build and manage global fleets and establish operational consistency across them, bringing cloud services, containers and serverless capabilities across deployments. Anthos enables a customer to manage GKE clusters and workloads running on virtual machines across environments.
Data Warehouse Migration
Google Cloud is striving to help partners and customers migrate Hadoop clusters to its platform.
In the new Data Warehouse Migration consumption pack, the company helps develop a strategy and execution plan for migrating a customer’s Hadoop cluster to Google Cloud.
Google Cloud helps customers solve for today’s analytics demands and seamlessly scale their business by moving to Google Cloud’s modern data warehouse with BigQuery.
Hadoop is designed to scale up from a single computer to thousands of clustered computers, with each machine offering local computation and storage. Through this capability, Hadoop can efficiently store and process large data sets ranging in size from Gigabytes to Petabytes of data, according to Google Cloud.
Infrastructure Assessment Via StratoZone
One of Google Cloud’s new consumption packs revolves around infrastructure assessments for customers.
The company will let partners utilize Google Cloud’s StratoZone tool for discovery and workload mapping and develop a plan for first-mover workload migration via its Infrastructure Assessment consumption pack.
Google Cloud’s StratoZone is a comprehensive assessment that helps partners migrate customer infrastructure to Google Cloud. With the StratoProbe data collector, a customer can automatically discover and scan servers into the StratoZone portal.
The StratoZone assessment provides a customer with actionable insight based on the configuration, utilization, network dependencies and installed applications for each server.
A customer also can import other sources of data—such as RVTools and ServiceNow—directly into the StratoZone portal for a one-to-one cost comparison.
Customer Consumption Planning
Another new pack helps customers plan their Google Cloud consumption strategies.
The new Customer Consumption Planning consumption pack enables partners to offer application mapping to Google Cloud solutions, consumption planning and workload-level migration plan development for customers.
Google Cloud has several tools for monitoring, controlling and optimizing customers’ cloud costs. Customers can gain visibility into their cost forecasts and trends, while also helping to control costs with financial governance policies and permissions.
Google Cloud said it helps customers stay smart about their spending with intelligent recommendations tailored to their business that help them optimize usage, save time on management and minimize costs.
