IBM’s Advice To The Biden Administration

IBM CEO Arvind Krishna on Monday congratulated President-elect Joseph Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris on winning the 2020 presidential election and pledged Big Blue’s commitment to working with the incoming administration to tackle “the monumental challenges our nation faces.”

As such, Krishna suggested to the next president some policy initiatives he believes will help a Biden administration effectively leverage technological innovation to solve some of our most-pressing problems.

Big Blue shares Biden’s long-stated vision of leveraging science to control the coronavirus pandemic while also working to expand economic opportunity, achieve racial justice and make progress in fighting the climate crisis, Krishna said.

It’s nothing new in Big Blue’s storied history to support the vision of a new president with its technology—when President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act, IBM delivered the data processing that established records for 26 million workers; and when President John F. Kennedy aimed to put a man on the moon, IBM built the computers that powered the Apollo missions.

That tradition continues today as IBM is putting forward an “unprecedented amount of computing power” to help researchers discover treatments and cures for COVID-19,” Krishna said.

“We believe technology can serve as a force for progress,” IBM’s CEO said.

Here are IBM’s four big tech-related policy suggestions for the incoming administration.
