Externally Hosted Private Cloud: Cons

Hosted private cloud won’t be as low-cost as private on-premises cloud, and there’s also a cost to losing control, especially with managed services, Krans said.

“The customer can really become dependent on the provider for not just the core services, but also the managed services that get wrapped around it,” Krans said. “It could be they manage the applications, adding users, doing updates, doing patches. A lot of times, there is managed security since it’s at the provider’s data center. They are just closer to the infrastructure.”
