Research Analysts Throw Down On The Cloud Model Debate 

The public cloud computing versus private cloud debate continues, with decision-makers at enterprises and small to midsized businesses weighing cost, the efficacy of their inhouse technology staffs, data control, security and other factors, including, of course, hybrid solutions.

Top public cloud providers Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud tout their over-the-Internet ease of use, pay-for-what-you-use models, scalability and security, and data analytics, artificial intelligence/machine learning capabilities.

On-premise private cloud and hosted private cloud champions, meanwhile, cite the need to address security, governance and regulatory compliance issues in addition to control and customization abilities.

We asked five analysts – from Amalgam Insights, Constellation Research, 451 Research, Gartner and Technology Business Research -- to detail what they see as the top pros and cons of public and private cloud deployments. Here’s what they told us.
