Soft Skills, Hard Skills

While the job market may have changed dramatically amid the current economic crisis, that doesn't change the need that many companies have for highly skilled workers. And specifically, for workers with key soft skills--such as creativity and persuasion--and with hard skills in hot areas such as blockchain, cloud computing and data analysis. In a recent report, LinkedIn outlined the most in-demand soft skills and hard skills among employers in 2020, based on the professional networking site's vast trove of professional profiles and job postings data. The report ranked the skills that are in the highest demand relative to the supply of workers with those skills--meaning that sought-after skills that are also rare tend to rank higher. When it comes to soft skills, "this year's results signal that companies are gravitating more toward talent with strong people-oriented skills," LinkedIn said in its report. Meanwhile, for hard skills, "analytical and data-centered hard skills continue to top the list," LinkedIn said.

What follows are the most in-demand soft skills and hard skills in 2020.
