Kyocera Unveils Color MFP for SMBs, Launches MPS Program

Kyocera Mita America has been busy lately. The company just rolled out a new product, the color FS-C1020MFP aimed at small to midsize businesses and shared workgroup environments.

The FS-C1020MFP is a 21-page-per-minute color printer with standard paper-saving duplex printing and copying and has features that are designed to save costs. The printer includes a 35-sheet document processor, a 250-sheet adjustable paper drawer and 256 MB of standard memory (upgradable to 512MB).

The FS-C1020MFP has monochrome and color-scanning capabilities and can scan to PC, e-mail, FTP and TWAIN. Standard network print includes an ARM 400-MHz processor and 600-x-600 dpi print resolution. The FS-C1020MFP also supports multiple page description languages, including PCL 6 (XL, 5c) and PS3 emulation, and can be connected in any Windows and Mac environment. In addition, it includes a Super G3/Network fax system, which allows users to send and receive faxes from their desktops. The printer is now available with a street price of $1,220.

Kyocera also recently debuted its managed print services program, FASTtrack. Based on what it said is several years of channel research, the program provides dealers with the resources and capabilities to help them integrate an MPS business model. The program focuses on assessment and remote monitoring, leasing and supplies, and sales and service training.

"Starting an MPS program at the dealer level can be challenging," Peter Hendrick, vice president, marketing for Kyocera, said in a statement. "FASTtrack brings clarity to the process of incorporating MPS into any dealership, and we are proud to offer our channel partners the opportunity to make this advantageous move toward MPS in a way that best suits both the dealership and its customers."

As part of FASTtrack, Kyocera has teamed up with FMAudit. The company provides print assessment and monitoring software solutions, and works with all major ERP systems, such as e-Automate and OMD so that dealers can remotely track and monitor customer fleets.

In addition, Kyocera has partnered with the Learning Outsource Group and BEI Pros to offer MSP sales and service training, which covers postevent sales support, special service tools and pricing.

"A successful MSP program requires a new approach to selling and servicing document imaging solutions for end users, yet it is steadily gaining momentum as an effective model for delivering end-user cost savings along with steady new revenue streams for our dealer partners," Hendrick said. "FASTtrack will help dealers make the shift away from a more traditional 'box-selling' business model by applying industry-proven MSP best practices that are vital for fueling their dealerships' growth."
