DeX

Samsung's DeX feature provides an Android desktop experience powered by the company's mobile devices. With the Galaxy Note9, Samsung has made it easier to use DeX by building the technology right into the smartphone. DeX previously was only available by connecting a smartphone to a docking station or pad, but now users can access DeX by connecting the Note9 to a display via a USB-C to HDMI dongle.

The Note9 can then be used as a touchpad for navigating in the Android desktop, or users can connect a compatible keyboard and mouse (such as a Bluetooth keyboard). "From a sales force perspective, say in financial services, we've now armed their sales force with a device that allows them to truly leave their laptop at home," Coleman said.

Marco Nielsen, vice president of managed mobility services at Stratix, a Norcross, Ga.-based MSP, said that Samsung is "getting one step closer to the holy grail of getting rid of the laptop" with the launch of the Galaxy Note9.
