Making CPUs, High-Speed Interconnects, Storage Accelerators
While Intel, AMD and Nvidia continue to duke it out, several startups are working to either take on the semiconductor giants or provide complimentary hardware that can improve system performance or even shake up the economics of how systems perform overall.
These semiconductor startups aren’t just limited to AI chip startups building purpose-build silicon for workloads like deep learning. They’re concerned with a wide variety of issues related to system performance, throughput, efficiency and total cost of ownership.
With the global semiconductor industry expected to grow sales by 6.2 percent in 2021, according to a World Semiconductor Trade Statistics forecast, these startups working on general-purpose CPUs, high-speed interconnects and storage accelerators have plenty of opportunities.
