The 5 Best-Selling Large-Format Commercial Display Brands Of Q3 2019
Samsung and LG led the way in terms of sales through technology distributors and resellers in the U.S., according to The NPD Group.
LFCD Leaders
During the third quarter, Samsung maintained its commanding lead in sales of large-format commercial displays (LFCDs) through technology distributors and resellers in the U.S. However, Samsung lost market share while the next three largest competitors in the market all gained ground. These findings come from The NPD Group of Port Washington, N.Y. The research firm tracks monthly technology sales-out information from the largest IT distributors and resellers in the U.S.
What follows are details on the five best-selling LFCD vendors in Q3 of 2019, based on The NPD Group's data.
5. Sharp
Samsung wasn't the only vendor to lose share in terms of LFCD sales through distributors and resellers during the third quarter. Sharp saw its share in the market dip to 6.2 percent during Q3, down from 9.9 percent during the same period a year earlier, according to The NPD Group.
4. Viewsonic
Viewsonic, however, managed to add to its modest share of the LFCD market via distributors and resellers during Q3. The NPD Group reported that Viewsonic's market share climbed to 7 percent during the third quarter, up from 4.3 percent the year before.
3. NEC Display Solutions
Likewise, NEC Display Solutions added a bit to its LFCD market share through technology distributors and resellers in Q3. NEC Display's share grew to 12.9 percent, from 10.6 percent year-over-year, during the third quarter, according to The NPD Group figures.
2. LG
LG still managed to fend off NEC Display by expanding its share of the LFCD market through distributors and resellers to 15.7 percent during the third quarter, The NPD Group reported. That was up from 14.4 percent during Q3 of 2018. Helping to fuel the growth was LG's top-selling model of the quarter, the LG 43LT340C TV. The TV features a 43-inch display with FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution.
1. Samsung
Samsung stayed well ahead of the LFCD pack during the third quarter, with a formidable 39.4-percent share of the market through distributors and resellers, according to The NPD Group. That was down, however, from a market share of 44 percent the year before. Still, Samsung had nine of the 10 top-selling large-format commercial displays during the quarter, The NPD Group reported. The best-selling model was the 690 Series 32-inch, a TV aimed at the hospitality industry that features FHD resolution and runs Tizen OS for enhanced performance.
