While HP Inc. easily held onto the No. 1 spot in terms of workstation sales through the total indirect channel in the fourth quarter, the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company saw its market share slip significantly, according to The NPD Group. HP dropped to market share of 59.8 percent during Q4, from 72.6 percent during the same period a year earlier, The NPD Group reported.

HP still had five of the six best-selling workstation models during the quarter, though, according to The NPD Group. Leading the way on sales through the indirect channel was the HP Z640 desktop workstation, with the best-selling configuration featuring the Intel Xeon E5-2637 v4 processor. The Z640 also features options for a number of other Intel Xeon processors, as well as choices between a range of Nvidia and AMD graphics options. Those include, at the high end of the spectrum, graphics such as the Nvidia Quadro M6000 and the AMD FirePro W7100.
