Michael Dell On The Record

Dell Inc. founder and CEO Michael Dell says partners should hitch their wagons to converged infrastructure, private cloud and managing hybrid cloud environments.

"That's going to be a good business for a long time," he told CRN editors in an exclusive interview at Dell's Round Rock, Texas, headquarters this week.

Dell is investing heavily in its enterprise product portfolio, channel incentives and enterprise innovation. In fact, the number of patents issued to the company last year jumped 28 percent compared with the year before, Dell said.

The chief executive, who owns 75 percent of the company since he took it private in a $25 billion buyout in 2013, said he sees enormous opportunities with open architecture innovation, hybrid cloud and hyper-converged infrastructure. Here, some highlights from the conversation.
