Sophos Email includes technologies such as Sophos' threat protection engine alongside context-specific heuristics for threat detection. Sophos Email represents an advancement in part because it has become part of the cloud-based Sophos Central management platform, said Dan Russell, chief technology officer at Bozeman, Mont.-based Pine Cove Consulting. "Being able to port [email security] into the Sophos Central offering is a big thing," Russell said. "We're doing endpoint protection, server, wireless protection -- all things built into Central. Now being able to manage [customers'] email within the same single pane of glass is absolutely huge for us."
