The Week Ending August 3

This week's roundup includes companies that are losing important leaders, market share, and employees.

Making the list is Facebook, which was bombarded with site down complaints from users. Microsoft is also losing a big customer, with Capital One migrating 40 thousand users from Office 365 to Google's G Suite.

The tablet market had a bad quarter, and Samsung is grappling with slumping sales as it waits to refresh its portfolio.

Also this week, a Nutanix executive who helped scale the hyper-converged leader is leaving after seven years; and Symantec is looking to improve its cost structure by eliminating 8 percent of its workforce.

Not everyone in the IT industry was having a rough go of it this week. For a rundown of companies that made smart decisions, executed savvy strategic moves -- or just had good luck -- check out this week's Five Companies That Came To Win roundup.
