‘It’s My No. 1 Priority Right Now’

Dell Technologies worldwide sales leader Bill Scannell has one thing top of mind right now: finding someone to fill the big shoes of Dell’s global channel chief Joyce Mullen, who is set to leave the company next month.

It’s my No. 1 priority right now,” said Scannell, president of global sales and customer operations, in an interview with CRN. “The search is on. … She and I are working together with other stakeholders to figure out what the best option is to preserve all the great things Joyce has done with the channel. Then, quite frankly, if we can continue to accelerate the growth through the channel and improve a few things, we’d love to take the opportunity to do that as well.”

Mullen, who is set to leave Dell on Aug. 14, has been responsible for Dell Technologies’ global channel strategy, partner program and channel sales execution for the past three years as president of global channel, embedded and edge solutions. She told CRN that she’s leaving Dell to pursue a new career opportunity in a smaller company, although she has yet to secure a new position.

Scannell took over the Round Rock, Texas-based infrastructure giant’s new unified sales organization earlier this year, which combined Dell’s enterprise and commercial as well as channel sales organizations under one roof. In an interview with CRN, Scannell talks about Mullen’s departure, leading the search campaign to find a new global channel leader and Dell’s ongoing channel commitment.

“We will make sure that partners understand that we are going to lean in to the channel,” said Scannell. “We’re going to take feedback from our channel partners and we’re going to go out and continue to take market share via our channel partners around the world.”
