5 Emerging IoT Trends To Watch In 2020

Dylan Martin

CRN takes a look at five emerging IoT trends solution providers need to watch in 2020, ranging from the sectors that will drive explosive data growth to new kinds of data and sensors.

Industrial, Automotive Sectors Will Drive IoT Data Growth

While video surveillance and other kinds of video applications will make up a large part of the IoT data being generated, most of the growth over the next six years will come from the industrial and automotive sectors, according to IDC. The two sectors alone represent an annual growth rate of 60 percent for IoT, and it's due to the increasing amounts and complexity of sensors that are capturing data from automobiles, machines and other industrial assets. Data types include audio, video and image, and things like artificial intelligence and analytics are only magnifying the kind of data being created.
