IoT Metadata Becomes Increasingly Important
It's one thing to have sensors, devices and other kinds of endpoints generate data, but then there's all the metadata that comes along with that data, capturing things like when and how the data is created. IDC said the category "is a growing source of data to be managed and leveraged," meaning it will become increasingly important to drive intelligence systems, create more personalization and bring context to otherwise inexplicable scenarios in data sets. This can help bring structure to unstructured data sets and improve how cognitive systems are developed.
