Personalized Training

Partners who join the Ciena Partner Network will receive customizable training and enablement based on their joint business plan and services strategy.

Michael Jonas, president of global customer operations at Concord, Calif.-based LightRiver Technologies, a longtime Ciena partner, said the revamped training strategy will benefit partners while also helping to create new sales opportunity. "Having to send my people for basic optical [networking] training is not a good use of our time," said Jonas. "They're providing different kinds of training to us based on the plan we think is going to make us most successful. That's advantageous for us."

Jonas was also excited about the opportunity for LightRiver sales and engineering teams to now train alongside Ciena's team. "Historically, my engineers weren't allowed to train with their engineers. My salespeople didn't get the same training as their salespeople," he said. "Based on the kind of business plan you put together, [Ciena's] not only going to allow that, but promote it."
