MSP Roundup: Open Platform For Level Platforms, Intronis Update

Managed Services Roundup

Here's a look at the latest managed services news, including a new program to open Level Platforms' Managed Workplace up to developers and a new multitenant cloud software revenue opportunity from Anchor, plus much more.

Level Platforms Launches Open Platform

Level Platforms has opened up its RMM platform, Managed Workplace, to allow hardware, software and cloud vendors to create their own customized, embedded workflows and automation within the platform, according to CEO Peter Sandiford (pictured).

The enhancement allows MSPs to optimize technical support for their own vendor partners, lower costs and provide a better end-user experience, Sandiford said.

"For the first time the global vendor community is now able to align and integrate their value proposition with the MSP business model," Sandiford said in a statement

Level Platforms introduced a Technology Integration Program that includes a software development kit and necessary tools to build customized Service Modules on top of Managed Workplace. A vendor development team can develop a basic Service Module in less than a month. The module must be certified by Level Platforms to be distributed to the global Level Platforms community, the Ottawa-based company said.

Intronis Update Includes Virtualization Support

Intronis has released the fall update of its cloud backup and recovery software for solution providers. The new release makes Intronis interoperable with VMware's vSphere, lowering the man-hours per Gigabyte needed to do full system-image backups, according to Boston-based Intronis.

All backups are fully encrypted, and restoration of customer data is completed from the cloud through the centralized Intronis Partner Portal, according to said Carol Ferrari (pictured), vice president of marketing and community for Intronis. "Having the ability to support VMware vSphere environments via system image-based backups, along with all other backup types, and store them to the cloud or a local device from one centralized Web-based portal is a functionality our partners have been asking for, and we’re pleased to deliver," Ferrari said in a statement.

Anchor Offers Multitenant Cloud Software For MSPs

Anchor, a San Francisco-based cloud software development company, announced a new multitenant cloud storage, file synchronization and collaboration solution for managed service providers. The Anchor platform includes a centrally-administered dashboard, comprehensive usage reports and granular user-access controls. Anchor promises to deliver the interface clients want and the returns MSPs desire, according to Pierre Tapia, Anchor’s Vice President of Product.

Anchor can scale to thousands of users for MSPs and includes a smart alerting system, individual usage reports and the ability to brand the service with agent, Web and mobile applications that can be customized, according to the company. It integrates with PSA tools AutoTask and ConnectWise.

MSP Rescues Dental Client With NovaStor

BackupServer Complete Technology Solutions, a Brantford, Ontario-based MSP, recently won the battle for a dental client against a virus targeted at dental offices with practice management software. All the client's applications that needed database access, shared drives and x-ray images were completely immobilized the week of Halloween, according to Cliff Dungey, president of BackupServer. In addition, years of data including patient records and x-ray images were inaccessible.

The MSP enlisted NovaStor's Nova Backup xSP managed backup service and was able to rebuild, install and update all servers to current security standards within hours, Dungey said. "We managed to retrieve every damaged file. Within several hours, the office was operational with zero data loss. This would have proved to be impossible without NovaStor," Dungey said in a statement.

AppNeta Adds Device Monitoring

AppNeta, a Boston-based startup focused in the cloud-based performance management space, has released new device monitoring capabilities for its suite of Network Performance Management capabilities.

AppNeta's PathView Cloud service allows MSPs and technicians to integrate diagnostic monitoring and troubleshooting across path, packet, flow and device of a network's performance stack, according to the company.

"We are taking network performance management to a new level where it can actually be easy, affordable, and provide visibility we know that you cannot get from traditional SNMP solutions today," said Jim Melvin (pictured), CEO, AppNeta, in a statement. "This service provides just what I have been looking for to help me meet client needs and our MSP offering objectives."
