An MSP ‘Evangelist’ On Wall Street: 8 Things You Need To Know About SolarWinds MSP Possible Spin-Off

Thompson Would No Longer Be CEO Of SolarWinds

For 56 quarters, Thompson has been the CEO of SolarWinds, steering it from a 20-person shop in Tulsa, Okla., to a solution provider behemoth with 3,200 employees in locations around the globe and nearly $1 billion in annual revenue.

Should the spin-off be approved, once it goes through SolarWinds will begin looking for Thompson’s replacement at SolarWinds. Thompson said he has no plans to leave soon, but he will exit to allow a new SolarWinds to fly under a new leader.

“I will continue to lead SolarWinds over the near term as we make the decision on the spin-off and we conduct an external and internal search process for a CEO who will lead SolarWinds in the future,” he said. “As you all know, I‘ve been very passionate about the opportunity we have to build a great company. I’m committed to this company. You can be confident I will do whatever is in my power to ensure that we have a seamless leadership transition.”
