Amazon Fire 7 Vs. World

How does Amazon's budget $50 Fire 7 tablet match up against its closest rival, $45 RCA 7-inch tablet sold via Walmart?

The RCA tablet doesn't serve up ads on the lock screen and also comes with a keyboard and case. The RCA tablet sports a 1.4GHz Quad-core processor, 8 GB storage and a 1,024-x-600 resolution display. Other specs include a 0.3MP front-facing camera, Micro USB port and 4-hour battery life running Android 4.4.

Fire 7 sports a 1,024-x-600 resolution screen, a Quad-core 1.3GHz processor (MediaTek), 8 GB of storage (expandable to 128 GB via MicroSD card port), 2-megapixel rear-facing 720p camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

On paper and practice, Amazon has an edge over RCA, even though the price is higher and it displays ads on the lock screen. Not only does Amazon beat RCA on cameras and expandable storage, but it wins in the all-important category of content.

Amazon Fire 7 is a content consumption device fine-tuned to work seamlessly with Amazon's large universe of digital content. But until we get a review unit in our hands, we'll have to wait and see.
