7 Cool Windows 10 Devices On The Market Today

Windows Frenzy

If you need any evidence that device manufacturers are embracing Windows 10, here it is. These are the CRN Test Center's picks for seven cool laptops and tablets that have been released for Windows 10 to date in 2016.

These, by the way, are just a fraction of the Windows 10 devices that have hit the market since the start of the year. And it's not just usual suspects such as Dell and HP making the list, either -- vendors that have traditionally been focused on Android, such as Samsung and Huawei, are also getting into the Windows 10 game with new devices.

The success of Microsoft's Surface series is one key factor here, as is the overall trend toward convertible tablet/laptop devices. Meanwhile, it's worth noting that Windows 10 is continuing to gain broader adoption -- it's now running on 300 million active devices, up from 200 million at the start of the year.

In this roundup we're only including devices that are new in 2016 and that are available in the U.S. right now.

Dell Latitude 13 7000 Series (7370)

What it is: A 13-inch laptop for business-class use

What's cool about it: Built from aluminum or carbon fiber (the stuff used in spacecraft), this laptop manages to look appealing while being both heavy duty and light -- weighing in at 2.48 pounds and measuring 0.56 of an inch thick.

Dell Latitude 12 7000 Series 2-in-1 (7275)

What it is: A 12.5-inch tablet/laptop for professionals, with a detachable keyboard (included)

What's cool about it: Designed to be free of latches and locks, this 2-in-1 instead uses magnets for switching between modes. The keyboard is full-size and features backlit keys. And it's ultra-light -- 1.61 pounds without the keyboard -- and comes with an optional full HD display.

HP Spectre 13

What it is: A 13.3-inch laptop for the premium market

What's cool about it: Super-thin and light (10.4 mm and 2.45 pounds), the Spectre 13 is, overall, a laptop with a luxury design you won't find in other Windows devices. That's thanks to the involvement of a jewelry designer, Jess Hannah, along with esteemed industrial product designer Tord Boontje. The new Spectre doesn't sacrifice horsepower in order to look good, though, with Intel Core i5 or i7 processors available -- and it's got a surprisingly reasonable starting price of $1,169.

HP EliteBook Folio

What it is: A 12.5-inch laptop for professionals

What's cool about it: For a business-class notebook, the EliteBook Folio G1 is very thin (12.4 mm) and light (2.14 pounds) -- much more so than its EliteBook 1020 predecessor. Its aluminum body and overall design are also appealing, and the Folio G1 has a 180-degree hinge so the device can open completely flat.

Huawei MateBook 2-in-1

What it is: A 12-inch tablet/laptop, detachable keyboard (sold separately)

What's cool about it: For professionals looking to be productive on a highly portable machine that's also got a sleek design, the MateBook might be worth some consideration -- especially with the $700 starting price, which is $100 less than the most affordable model of the rival Microsoft Surface Pro 4.

Lenovo Yoga 900S 2-in-1

What it is: A 12.5-inch laptop/tablet, nondetachable keyboard

What's cool about it: Focused on serving the needs of highly mobile professionals, this new spin on the Yoga 900 is lighter (at 2.2 pounds) and thinner (12.8 mm) than its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy TabPro S 2-in-1

What it is: A 12-inch tablet/laptop for professionals, detachable keyboard (included)

What's cool about it: As Samsung's biggest push yet to appeal to the modern workforce, the TabPro S is highly portable (at just 1.53 pounds) and comes with a full keyboard and 128 GB of storage. It also starts at $899, which is $130 less than a Microsoft Surface Pro 4 with keyboard.
