PC Market Shrinks
The industry's dominant vendors continued to duke it out in a shrinking PC market in the second quarter, a period that saw Dell, which came out on top in the previous quarter, displaced by rival HP Inc. in the U.S. market.
Worldwide PC shipments were down 4.5 percent year-over-year in the second quarter, according to data from research firm IDC. That's better than what IDC predicted for the market, but it still shows that the big vendors are clamoring for larger pieces of a shrinking pie.
