The first quarter saw strong sales in mobile workstations from vendors including HP, Lenovo and Dell, according to The NPD Group.

4. Toshiba

Like MSI, Japan-based Toshiba held onto just a small fraction of the market for mobile workstations sold via distributors. Toshiba's market share dropped to 0.5 percent during Q1 from 0.7 percent the year before.

Toshiba's mobile workstations have included the Tecra W50, featuring a 15.6-inch FHD display, Intel Core i7 processor and Nvidia Quadro graphics. The Tecra W50 has been discontinued, however, according to CDW.com.
