Surface Pro X

The Surface Pro X introduces a new form factor to the Surface Pro line, with a 13-inch display in a 12-inch chassis and a thickness of just 0.21 of an inch, Microsoft said. The new Surface Slim Pen is housed inside the top of the detachable Type Cover keyboard, and recharges while inside the Type Cover.

Microsoft said it worked with Qualcomm to develop the ARM-based processor powering the Surface Pro X, which is dubbed the Microsoft SQ1 processor. The processor helps enable "always on" functionality with the device, as well as mobile connectivity over LTE Advanced, Microsoft said. The Surface Pro X offers "3X more performance per watt than the Surface Pro 6," Microsoft said, while the device will also be highly portable at 1.68 pounds.

The Surface Pro X will be priced starting at $999. Pre-orders begin today, and the device will be available on Nov. 5.
