Durability

The iPhone XS Max gets an upgrade in terms of water resistance over previous iPhones, with a rating of IP68—matching the water resistance rating of Samsung's Galaxy S9+. The rating suggests the devices should survive a plunge into waters as deep as 5 feet for up to 30 minutes.

In terms of screen durability, Apple says the iPhone XS Max has gotten a boost over past iPhones. The XS Max, according to Apple, features the "most durable glass ever in a smartphone with improved scratch resistance." Samsung hasn't made equivalent claims on the durability of the Galaxy S9+ display.
