Back-To-School Tech Shopping: 20 Cool Gadgets For Students

Kyle Alspach

Our top suggestions for students include devices for distance learning such as laptops, tablets, headsets and webcams.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra

For the student that’s ready for a smartphone upgrade, Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is one that might actually help with their productivity. The Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will offer a huge 6.9-inch display with a 120hz refresh rate for smooth display motion. And for the S Pen, the stylus that’s housed inside the Note, Samsung has made several improvements. Those include reduced latency for a more natural “pen to paper” type of feeling. In the Notes App, meanwhile, the S Pen can now be used to annotate PDF files, which can be imported directly into the app.

Samsung’s Galaxy Note 20 Ultra will be available soon for a starting price of $1,299.99. Pre-orders are open now, with the device shipping on Aug. 21.

Lenovo Smart Clock

One possible advantage of learning at home is that your student doesn’t have to wake up quite as early. But they still might need some help with getting up--in which case, the Lenovo Smart Clock might be of some help. The voice-controlled alarm clock (which uses the Google Assistant) offers hundreds of “soothing” alarm sounds, and the 4-inch screen automatically dims at night and brightens in the morning. Users can also set up “Good Morning” and “Good Night” routines and use the Smart Clock to listen to music, podcasts and audiobooks.

The Lenovo Smart Clock is currently priced at $49.99 on BestBuy.com.
