State IDs In Apple Wallet
At WWDC, Apple also announced plans for the Apple Wallet app to be able to store a user’s state identification. Users in participating U.S. states will be able to add their driver’s license or other state IDs to Apple Wallet starting later this year, Apple said. TSA checkpoints at airports will be the first place that users will be able to use their state ID in Apple Wallet as a form of identification, Apple said. “Identity Cards in Wallet are encrypted and safely stored in the Secure Element, the same hardware technology that makes Apple Pay private and secure,” the company said.
