Between the athletes, journalists and roughly 75,000 daily visitors, this year's Olympic Games ushered in an unprecedented amount of smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices. In fact, Avaya said its network was supporting roughly 120,000 devices at any given time.

To support all those connections, Avaya had 2,500 wireless access points -- or 35 times the number deployed for SuperBowl 2013.

Avaya said there was a 4:1 ratio of wired to wireless connections throughout the games.
