Touting itself as offering the only full intent-based and vendor agnostic networking system in the world, Apstra is planning to automate data center operations. The Apstra Operating System (AOS) sits above existing hardware and software to create an abstraction layer that allows administrators to easily view the network, which is interoperable with devices from Cisco, Juniper Networks, HPE and the Open Compute Project, to name a few.

IT research firm Gartner said intent-based networking could be the "next big thing" in networking, as it promises to improve network availability and agility.
