While some Cisco partners say the company has come a long way toward transforming itself into more of a company that sells networking functions via software on a subscription basis; others say the change still has a way to go. "I don't think Cisco has found the right recipe yet," one solution provider executive told CRN. "When companies reach the point that Cisco has in its lifecycle, they try to remake themselves, and it is hard." Still, the company is notching significant successes. Its subscription-based Catalyst 9000 family of switches, the cornerstone of its Network Intuitive strategy, were adopted by more than 1,100 customers in their first quarter of availability. And about 1,200 partners have signed up to begin selling its ConnectWise solution that provides managed service in-a-box software that ties together its Meraki, Spark, Stealthwatch, and Umbrella solutions.
