First Pitch

Hand-in-hand with the launch of its new Pitch video platform, TouchCast is rolling out its first-ever formal channel program.

Vice President of Channel Sales Mitchell Bell says simplicity and profitability were among the most important considerations the New York, N.Y., company had when building the program, but recruitment efforts will be selective.

"Our strategy is really about quality over quantity," Bell said. "We're not one of those organizations that just recruits massively. I don't think that's the right strategy. We want people who are very technology-forward that want to separate themselves from the competition."

TouchCast develops platforms that allow users to create interactive videos that allow for real-time file sharing and collaboration. Its latest platform, Pitch, was released recently and the company says Pitch is a natural sale for partners who currently do a strong Microsoft Office365 business.

Bell said he is on the lookout for partners that have or can develop strong services practices that allow them to provide implementation services, or even video production work.

What follows is an edited excerpt of Bell's conversation with CRN.
