Aruba One And Only Leader In Wireless; Cisco In Challenger Position: Forrester New Wave Report

"From wayfinding, to location, to connecting to IoT devices, those factors really separated Aruba out. I was really shocked that more vendors weren't further along on that cycle," says André Kindness, author of the Forrester New Wave report for wireless solutions.

Challenger: Aerohive Networks

Aerohive Networks, the No. 2 leader in cloud managed wireless LAN services in the U.S., offers customers a single and simple approach to on-premises and cloud-based wireless options. The recently reconstructed Aerohive management system makes premises-based and cloud-based management a similar process, the report found.

The Milpitas, Calif. based company must strengthen its Bluetooth management and monitoring as it is weak in areas such as real-time visibility, Kindness said. However, channel-friendly Aerohive, as of Aug. 9, is now a part of Extreme Networks.

The Aerohive purchase is expected to help grow Extreme Networks’ all-important subscription-based revenue mix to approximately 30 percent from subscription recurring revenue, the companies said regarding the deal.
