The third-quarter 2019 Forrester New Wave report for wireless offerings took a different approach to assessing the market than it had in its previous iteration in 2014.
The report this time identified eight offerings from seven vendors that went beyond simply classifying the strengths of a vendor's Wi-Fi connectivity. The offerings were evaluated on the strengths of their management platforms as well as their emerging capabilities, including location-based services, Internet of Things connectivity and security, André Kindness, principal analyst for Forrester Research, told CRN. And that shift in market perception caused a shake-up.
In a major market upset, Aruba Networks, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company, was named the only leader in the wireless market due to its unified management approach and IoT connectivity capabilities. Wireless competitors such as Huawei and Cisco Systems also returned to this year's Wave report but in a different classification than they had five years ago.
Here are the strengths and weaknesses of the seven vendors listed on the 2019 Forrester New Wave report for wireless offerings and how they stack up in today's wireless market.
