Today, SASE combines network security functions with WAN capabilities to support the quickly changing access needs of businesses all over the world. 2020 saw a number of SASE announcements, as well as several mergers between incumbent networking leaders and pure play SD-WAN providers, including Palo Alto‘s CloudGenix purchase and HPE/Aruba scooping up Silver Peak.
Gartner's 2020 Magic Quadrant for WAN Edge Infrastructure report contained 17 vendors that matured their SD-WAN offerings with the addition of security, analytics, and managed solutions.
